How do I book and confirm my session?
Your session is reserved once I receive your signed Client Agreement (usually available when checking out on my site) and completed online order (see Full Services to book your session type). I'll send you a confirmation with key details and preparation, as well as reminder prior to your session date.
What can I expect during my shoot?
I'll call you ahead of time so we can go over specifics and/or types of shots you want to me to capture and within our allotted time. Then we'll go out and shoot! My priority is to make this a fun, easy, and comfortable process for you.
What about the paperwork?
I ask each and every one of my clients to sign a contract/Client Agreement, which is pretty standard in the photographic industry. This also includes a photo release for both of us. If you have any specific questions on this, please ask!
What about payment?
Full payment is due prior to/or day of your session and can be completed through a variety of options:

Cash, or check. All returned checks will incur a $50 returned check fee. If your check is returned for any reason you must pay your total amount + the return check fee by cash only.
Where do sessions take place?
Typically sessions take place either outdoors or in my clients’ homes. For outdoor sessions, I’m happy to provide location suggestions within the Seattle metropolitan area. Travel is included for locations covered within Seattle. For locations outside of that map, travel will be billed at $75/hour.
What if I'm running late?
Please call or text me at my provided mobile number (in your confirmation email) right away. I know life happens so the sooner I know, I can help adjust my schedule with other clients.
What happens if I suddenly need to cancel or reschedule?
If you need to cancel or reschedule, please let me know as soon as possible. I require at least 48 hours in advance cancellation. If less than 48 hours, your retainer will not be refunded.
What's the best time of day for portrait sessions?
Light is an important factor. During sunny days, I try to schedule shoots in the morning or late afternoon (an hour and a half before sunset) for the most flattering light. During the rainy season, it really doesn't matter the time of day as the light is nice and even...great for no harsh shadows!
How many people can I bring with me?
Mini sessions are designated for couples and families with their immediate children. Full photo sessions are up to 5 individuals. Any number beyond 5, I would recommend an extended session (6-10 participants) to allow for enough time and coverage. For groups larger than 10, I can be booked for your special event.
Can I do a wardrobe change during my session?
For smaller, full sessions, absolutely yes! I recommend you bring 1-2 easy-to-change-into outfits with you in an equally easy to carry bag.
What should I wear?
Solid colors are great, especially in the dreary months. Think up to 3 colors, no “matchy matchy” or crazy patterns. We want the focus to be on you not your outfit.
What can I expect for home photo sessions?
I come to you and bring my gear (and newborn props if it's a newborn session). I recommend choosing 1-2 rooms in your house with access to natural light and that you want your family captured in. Big windows are great for this! I work with you on any posed shots first, then go into more natural shots... expect to be interacting, playing, cuddling, and loving on your kids (and partner!). The best photographs are those where your family feels comfortable and are having a fun time.
(If possible, I would remove all little things that you don’t want it your photos. Think lotion, tissue boxes, diapers, random everyday items that may be distracting in the photos. I can also help with this!
What should we wear for outdoor sessions?
What makes you feel confident and comfortable! I suggest dressing for the season and wearing layers you don't mind being photographed in. Also, solid colors tend to be less distracting and will help focus more on your faces.
What if it rains during my outdoor session?
I photograph rain or shine. If the weather is particularly terrible (think sleeting snow), then we work to reschedule. I recommend bringing an umbrella or two, and a comb to readjust your hairdos.
What if my kids aren’t behaving or have a meltdown during the shoot?
Congrats, they are 100% totally normal! As a mom of a toddler, I know exactly how these things go and have been there. Regardless of how your child is acting, I promise to work with you on getting some great shots. While meltdowns are sometimes unavoidable, here are some tips that will help your kiddos prep for our time together:
Make sure your kids are well-rested and healthy the day of the shoot. Adjust nap times if necessary. If your child is sick, please contact me to reschedule! I understand, and sick kids really do not like to be photographed.
For outdoor shoots, remember to bring water for your children, as well as snacks in case they get hungry or irritable.
If you have a child that has a favorite lovey or other comfort item, please bring it to the shoot!
For babies a year and under, please bring a few objects that always capture their interest or make them giggle. This will help them focus on the camera instead of all the exciting stuff around us.
Are you available to photograph events like birthdays and other special events?
Occasionally! I photograph a lot of special events like galas, fundraiser, etc. My rate is $175 an hour (with a 3-hour minimum) and includes travel within the Seattle area. For events outside Seattle, please contact me directly for a special quote.

I offer mini sessions (in groupings) occasionally throughout the year and at set times and locations where my schedule allows. To see when the next ones are, check out my Mini Sessions section. These are great for immediate family members (up to 5) or friends. If you are needing more coverage or have a larger group, consider booking another session or full portrait session.
When and how will I receive my photos?
Expect a link to a gallery no later than 3 weeks from your session (unless other arrangements have been made) and after your final payment is processed. You'll be able to download your photo sets directly through your gallery site. Your photos can be downloaded and shared as you like, please no alterations to the photos. If you need help downloading the files, please let me know!
Do you deliver every image you shoot?
For your final gallery of images, I’ll shoot a certain number of frames and then narrow them down later. All sessions include your choice of listed full-resolution digital files with a print release, which allows you to reproduce images for personal use as many times as needed. Your gallery link allows you to download these photos in a variety of sizes (web, print quality, etc.).
Do you retouch photos?
I use my own custom finishing for final sets and will retouch minor blemishes, etc. in the most natural way possible when requested. I ask that clients do not retouch photos themselves.
Do you offer black and white versions of my images?
Every image is originally photographed in color, but I also can provide custom black & white conversions per request.
Can I share and print my photos?
Absolutely! I just ask that you credit Goodsell Photos as all of my work is copyrighted. I appreciate you sharing these with your friends and family.
Do you have any recommendations for printing?
Yes, you can print directly through your gallery link (I use only reputable labs) or if you print yourself, I recommend using Artifact Uprising for high quality prints and albums. Please let me know and I can send you a referral email for $10 off your order through AU's site.
