Hello Seattle Friends,
We're all living through strange times and while social distancing (PHYSICAL DISTANCING) is necessary, so is finding ways to give back to our community. One of our neighbors shared the #TheFrontStepsProject (started in Massachusetts by fellow photographer Cara Soulia) with me and I loved it so much, I plan on doing the same here in South Seattle.
#TheFrontStepsProject bring us together virtually despite being - and maybe feeling - isolated. We aim to highlight the faces of our community during a time when we might not see them in passing at the grocery store, coffee shop, on the train or at the gym. We may be temporarily separated, but we are always united.
BENEFITING NORTHWEST HARVEST
+ SEATTLE CHILDREN’S PLAYGARDEN
Your participation will help benefit either Northwest Harvest and Seattle Children’s Playgarden, two organizations that are doing amazing work in our area.
Northwest Harvest, whose vision is to help end hunger in Washington State. There are so many people in need access to food right here in our own community. And now, more than ever it is SO important that we keep in mind that low-income families are going to be disproportionately affected by the COVID-19.
Seattle Children’s PlayGarden’s mission is to provide children of all abilities a safe, accessible, and adventurous place to play. Your support will help the PlayGarden ensure the growth of Inclusion, Garden to Table and Adventure Play in our community. I know many families, including my own, visit the PlayGarden and attend its many free programs and inclusive workshops.
HOW THIS WORKS
You make a donation (suggested $100 donation) directly to:
Northwest Harvest (gf.me/u/xtrvtx)
OR
Seattle Children’s PlayGarden (gf.me/u/xt3scw)
You sign up for time window day that I will be in your Seattle neighborhood. I confirm with you via calendar invite.
You’ll know when I am arriving by text! When I drive by and be least 10 feet away with my camera, You gather on your front steps. I briefly photograph you guys ( families, solo, couples, with pets, etc. anyone) on your front steps, again from afar. 5-10 minutes max. I am nowhere near you.
The next day you will receive a gallery link to your photos (3-5) to download, share, and have a memory of forever.
I will be posting these images on Facebook and Instagram using the hashtag #TheFrontStepsProject as part of a national community of neighbors.
“Dress Code” = Be You.
This is not a typical get-dressed-up-and-pose-for-the-photographer session. Want to stand outside in your pajamas and slippers? Sounds good to me. Kids in mismatched clothes but you’re thrilled they got dressed? Even better. Wearing your bike gear because you’re headed off to ride a trail in the nice weather? Love it!
SIGN UP. GIVE A DONATION. MAKE SOME MEMORIES.
WE’RE ALL IN THIS TOGETHER!
WAIT LIST SIGN-UP
I’M STOKED that so many of you have signed up and donated to Northwest Harvest or the PlayGarden. THANK YOU! At this time, I can’t take any more sessions until I can complete the original ones scheduled. If you’d like to get on the Wait List, please sign up here.
Thank you so much for your support!
